Eating Disorder Treatment
Seeking help for your eating disorder is your initial step towards recovery. Once you’ve made that first move for support, whether it be from your GP or a private eating disorder service like AddictionRehab, you will need to get an assessment done to determine the severity of your symptoms. With that completed, you and your support team will decide on what treatment plan is the best and most appropriate for you.
Treatment plans include:
- Inpatient eating disorder treatment
Being admitted to a treatment facility as a resident where you will be given 24-hour eating disorder support and care.
- Day care treatment options
Making regular daily visits to an AddictionRehab location in order to undergo treatment and going home each evening.
- Outpatient eating disorder treatment
Going to weekly hour-long appointments at one of our clinics or wellbeing centres; the flexible schedule allows you to fit your treatment sessions around your other commitments. There is also the option of having video sessions.

Our Eating Disorder Treatment Centres
We have a network of treatment clinics and wellbeing centres located nationwide that provide disorder treatment programmes. Depending on your symptoms and needs, you may be referred to different AddictionRehab locations that can help you effectively manage the specific difficulties you are experiencing.
Outpatient and day care at many AddictionRehab locations

We have made access to treatment possible for you, with our clinics and wellbeing centres conveniently located all over the UK. Our outpatient services also include online therapy services, which match you up with expert therapists who can provide therapy sessions wherever you find most suitable.

How are Eating Disorders Treated?
Each individual with an eating disorder will have unique experiences with food, which is why every treatment programme must be planned according to their specific needs. Often, this means that a person with anorexia will be given a different treatment plan from someone struggling with bulimia.
Our basic eating disorder treatment program consists of intense therapy and wellness activities. It can also include various medications according to the type of eating disorder being treated as well as the severity of the eating disorder.
The therapy sessions, which are included in an eating disorder treatment program, can be conducted in different ways, for yourself alone and with others. The following are the different therapy formats:
- 1:1 therapy
- Group therapy
- Family therapy
- Online therapy
All our specialists are supported by years of experience delivering eating disorder treatment programmes in these different therapy formats. Every expert team at AddictionRehab consists of:
- Psychiatrists
- Psychologists
- Therapists
- Nurses
- Dietitians
- Other mental health and eating disorder professionals
Our specialisation covers a range of different therapy types, which are all approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE):
- Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA)
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT)
- Dietetic advice and support
- Supported meals
- Occupational therapy, including food exposure interventions
- Body image workshops
- Parent/carer support sessions
While you’re in treatment with us, we can also monitor your physical condition and provide you with supported feeding, if needed, on our residential treatment programmes.
